Well we have proper winter weather this weekend with a stiff SW wind blowing now and a proper temp drop with the cold front however the swell not a bad as predicted for today! Here’s hoping it’s not the 3m predicted for Saturday!

North coast doesn’t seem to be enjoying the wind with it going green today and SW wind being stronger on the north coast than South coast where it’s holding colour nicely albeit the swell picking up.

The fish normally come on before these fronts and this week was no exception with some top fish coming out on spear and rod n reel. Geelbek, Garrick, snoek, Couta, Wahoo and top bottoms have come out recently!

With fish we have Glen Van Nooten getting a decent Scotsman Geelbek and Blacktip kingfish fishing off Isipingo, Domz Fourie with two Snoek and a 3kg Catface Umhlanga, Wayne aka Crispy ending a two year fish drought with a decent brace of Garrick Westbrook, Lincoln with a lekker Brace of Garrick Bluff, Wesley with a decent Cape tail Bluff, Master Richardt Botes with a 8kg plus Snoek north, Zayne Revel with a decent brace of Garrick Park Rynie, Manus with a 7.2kg Garrick Westbrook, Master Bruce with a Croc Couta 21.2kg north coast, Arno with a slab Wahoo 27.5kg Sodwana, Colin Brain with a decent Garrick Ballito and Alan Heydorn with some decent Daga salmon Richards bay! Aweh lads top feeshies!

This SW wind blows through the night dropping off Saturday morning with the swell running at sub 3m at 15 seconds from the south and drops off to 2m by late afternoon with a light onshore wind blowing.

Sunday we have a NW wind early bells through to just after 10am switching around to a moderate NE wind in the afternoon with swell running sub 2m 14 seconds from the south.

Saturday is neap tide’s with high tide at 09h47/22h01 and low tide at 16h00.
So it looks like Sunday morning is the best bet this weekend for a dive from shore or boat… Saturday arvo could be good for boat especially south coast!

We have the annual Natal Champs shoredive compo coming up soon being organised by Master Louis Schourie this year and it’s gonna be a cracker event with a great spread of prizes! For me though the prize is to get on the trophy! 70 year’s since it’s inception this year so let’s all pull in a make it a bust up event! Stay tuned for details!

As always dive safe and straight spears from the Bear
