Well yes the sea definately came right after the NE wind that blew during the week and the sea got cleaner as it settled. Snoek from Umkomaas to past Tinley Manor in the North, Cape tail off the Bluff and Toti, Garrick patrolling the surf, big Natal stumpnose and Brusher are around in numbers with Spotted grunter putting in an appearance here and there.
Today Ballito and up was very clean as well as the lower south coast however there was a strong reverse current down there and not much around on the south. The swell predicted for tomorrow looks far milder North so maybe that’s the way to head if you are fit and or have a boat to launch.
However swell predicted for now is larger than it actually is so here’s hoping it arrives later tomorrow and we can get a last dive in before the wind and swell on Sunday. Best bet early bells tomorrow north as salties was looking flat and clean still about an hour ago (16h00 Friday).
Great news we have a date for Natal spearfishing Champs which is the 30th of August with the 31st being the hold over date if the 30th isn’t divable. It’s a great compo and well worth entering to gauge how your shoredive skills are compared to the best of the best in KZN!
This year is the 70th anniversary and sponsors and prizes are already looking legendary! You don’t have to come 1st to get a lekker prize trust me. I have included the two information posters in the gallery. R300 get’s you in with a t-shirt hamburger and refreshment! Aweh
Sardines were thick off Mnini Umgababa this morning however no fish with them but the guy’s pulled some good nets…watch Illovo Toti in the morning as the sards were moving in that direction.
We have spring tides today with new Moon last night and high tide tomorrow is at 04h45/17h00 and low tide is at 10h48.
As always dive safe and straight spears from the Bear.
