Bear KZN sea conditions report Sailfish Pompano Snoek

Shoh! Insane conditions this week even with Umzimkulu and Umkomaas rivers coming out brown atm! That’s what the Couta and Snoek come here for in any case because of the bait that get’s pulled out of the rivers.

Speaking of Couta only two I heard of this week came out North coast so they are arriving just very sporadic atm. Yellow fin tuna are definitely here and good bags coming out on the south coast side off the boat.

One or two Dorado are starting to show up as well and the big shoals of Snoek shouldn’t be far behind. Sea pike are doing their usual shoaling up when the rivers come down. Brusher and Daga salmon are also still around as well both north.and south.

With fish this week we have Saihil and Gordon with a Snoek and Seapike off chain pools Umdloti, beginner Balail with his second fish ever a 2kg Grunter, laatie Kyle with his 1st Pompano 7.5kg town and the fish of the week (on the rod) Kyle Hutchinson launching Ace out at Warner’s and landing a 74kg Saily! Aweh lads lekker feeshies!

Kyle’s Saily eclipses the previous all Africa record by 10kg set in the 1960’s!
Whata catch! Yes he tried to release it however being on his own he battled and the fish died. Great eating though!

Swell has jacked and is set to stay up for the weekend with mornings having smaller swell at 2m 12s and jacking more towards low tide after 10am.

Light due East wind Saturday afternoon and light to moderate NE wind Sunday.
With the swell I would definitely say it’s a boating weekend and head out deep.

Current has been NS for a few days and is just over half a knt NS on the shoal with 24 degC water. Inshore temps are around 21 to 20 degC. There’s viz north and south however south is better atm.
