Well we have had epic conditions up and down the Coast with minimal swell and clean water. So guy’s have put plenty hour’s in on the water and the fish pic’s this week tell the story.
We have a moderate SW wind blowing at 20knt this afternoon which is set to settle overnight leaving us with an offshore wind tomorrow morning lifting the set’s coming in at 2m 12 second’s from the South. No wind for the rest of the day!
Sunday we have no wind until a light NE ruffles the sea after lunch. Swell starts at 1.7m 12 second’s from the South and mellows to 1.4m in the afternoon.
We have full moon Saturday night bringing in spring tides with a low at 09h15 and a high tide at 15h17.
So the main action locally is from Umdloti in the North to Umkomaas in the south for Couta and up in Zululand from Sodwana in the North to Richards bay in the south. Some shoal Couta mainly with bigger ones upto 20kg inbetween.
With fish this week we have Chris Knutsen getting a 18kg and 12kg Couta off his ski, Master Royd Williams getting Couta and half a Wahoo diving with Allan Heydorn at Richards bay, Dirk Erasmus and Allan Heydorn getting some shoal Couta Sodwana on Saturday, Paul Shannon with his 1st Garrick of the season Umdloti and Shelton Grant getting in on the Couta action off his jet ski! Well done lad’s Aweh!
Sea temps are averaging 22.5 to 23.5 degC up and down the Coast with a reverse current of around 1knt atm. This is still a little warm for the sardine run but hopefully the little fellahs will show up soon with pilot Shoals being spotted south in the Transkei.
Both Saturday and Sunday are go day’s for a dive so get those pink slips in tonight!
As always dive safe and straight spears from the Bear.
