Hi peeps and welcome to another Bear report brought to you by Mydo bait swimmers.

Well diving has been tough during the week due to all the rivers pumping mud into the sea! However there are gamefish around. Tropical Yellowtail, Amber’s and Kingfish are shoaling up on the deeper marks as they start gathering for the sardine run. Wahoo are around especially if you get some quieter drifts in with minimal boat traffic around. Couta are shoaling in certain spots and Croc Couta are patrolling out on the 20m line.

On the inshore some Bus Snoek have been coming out around the 10kg mark and Pompano over 10kg have been shoaling up as well. Garrick have been quiet however the 1st proper cold front, which we have just had, herald’s the start of the Garrick Shoals arriving from the Cape.

Conditions this long Easter weekend are looking marginal to say the least…meh!

Saturday morning we have a light offshore switching around to a NE which builds during the day and the swell is on the larger side at 2.2m 14 seconds from the South. The NE wind picks the swell up to 2.5m in the afternoon.

Sunday morning there’s NE blowing then dropping off and switching to a light to moderate onshore with the swell running at 2.2m at 12seconds from the south.

Monday we have a light to moderate SW wind blowing with the swell down to 2m 11 seconds from the south.

Water temperatures are still between 23 and 26 degC with light to moderate reverse current. Viz was reported as 15m on the Aliwal shoal this morning. Blue line is 3km off Durban and apparently purple! Let’s hope the offshore current pushes all the brown away!

Heading into neaps on Monday with high tide Saturday at 06h30 and low tide at 12h45 tidal difference 1m.

Happy Easter peeps!

As always dive safe and straight spears from the Bear
