Well the NE wind actually cleaned up the sea! However the clean water only came in on the upper north coast and lower south coast with sardine action on the lower south coast.
There are plenty of Sardines coming past Coffee bay Tkei atm check it out at www.thesardine.co.za! Aweh thanks Xona! Netting was taking place at Winkelspuit today with a few nets coming out. Some swell around today which hampers netting operations.
Along with all the Sardines that have been in the Toti area a Cape fur seal arrived last week and has been hanging around Toti main beach since then! A mate of mine, Lincoln, was down there yesterday feeding it Sardines as it looked skinny and it’s ribs were sticking out it’s fur. Low and behold it had a hook in it’s mouth!
They were trying to net and get it in a transport cage for rehabilitation yesterday afternoon with little to no Success! However Jace Govender managed to get the little fella last night in the capture net and into the transport cage! Well done Jace Aweh!
With all the Sardines around fish are getting extra fat and we can clearly see this with Rory O’Connor’s 11.1kg Snoek speared yesterday Arvo at Warner’s! What a Tank! Also with Master Alistair Jones Bus Geelbek caught off ski earlier this week! Aweh lad’s class fish!
Saturday we have a NW offshore blowing early bells with swell at 2.2m 10 seconds from the SE and a light onshore in the afternoon with the swell settling towards high tide.
Sunday we have a light offshore in the morning and whatch out the SW will come puffing through after the offshore wind drops off. Swell will be larger and 15 to 17 seconds later in the day although north coast will be flatter initially it will jack there too later in the day.
Current was mainly NS this morning and slacked off this afternoon with sea temps around 21.5 to 22degC.
As always dive safe and straight spears from the Bear
