So the question on everyone’s lips is what’s the swell doing this weekend. We have had proper winter swell the last few days however it’s definitely dropped a bit this afternoon with a light southerly wind blowing.

Saturday however swell is predicted to jack upto 3.5m from the south at 14 seconds… power house surf! Some models showing from 3am others from early to midmorning here in Durban. I’m going with CSIR on this one showing the build up from 8am.

Sunday the swell mellows to 2.4m from the south at 13 seconds dropping off later to 1.8m! Deffos manageable! Weather is ballistic on Sunday with a NW offshore in the morning and just about zip wind thereafter! Saturday early bells we have a offshore land breeze with a light to moderate Southerly wind picking up later in the morning.

With fish today we have Tyrone from #divesouthafrica with a nice blacktip kingie on a light setup at wideham, Zayne Revel with a Half cobq and a Couta shoredive south, Raven Impie finally coming right with a decent Geelbek and bottoms Tinley, Bryan Usswald with a 20kg GT fishing at Wideham, Wesley with a decent Garrick Cuttinngs and Kobus Delport with a 6.5kg Geelbek local! Aweh lad’s!

Winter swell will bring the big winter fish with it! Sardines are still fullup on the south coast and netting took place mainly at Toti today because of the protected launch. There’s plenty action further South from Park Rynie and down to Port Edward where there’s a 2km shoal of them swimming up north!

Sea temps 21 degC north coast with a 1knt SN current pushing which might hopefully take the green away and give us some blue water again. Scottburgh is looking mint and the Aliwal shoal should be clean with a reverse current.

So yeah it’s a diving and fishing weekend! Aweh!

As always dive safe and straight spears from the Bear.
